..... first thing after breakfast was the Singapore subway to the water terminal..... the short ferry boat ride to Bintan Island..... a day to catch a glimpse of Indonesia..... a unique experience..... a nice memory....

..... dinner at Boat Quay was a most enjoyable evening..... first we strolled along the Singapore River..... dinner crowds were speaking all sorts of languages..... the sidewalk was lined with Sri Lanka crabs soon to become a chili crab dinner..... Italian food..... Indian food..... more seafood..... pubs..... Tiger beer..... bumboats..... all surrounded by quiet river lights.....

..... my husband enjoyed Raffles Hotel..... one of the landmarks of Singapore..... it's well-known Long Bar..... it's Billard Room where tigers once napped..... a part of Singaporean history.....

..... I walked down Orchard Road every evening during our stay in Singapore..... what a street..... boutique shops everywhere...... a Starbuck's coffee shop every 2 blocks..... shopping malls..... faces from all parts of the world..... a western look and feel..... a place to spend lots of money..... or just take in an inexpensive outdoor food stall meal.....

..... my wife really enjoyed this travel experience..... a first time look at Singapore, a first peek at Indonesia, a first look at Malaysia..... next for us will be Thailand, the Philippines or Vietnam.....

..... Jeanne and I had never eaten with our hands from a banana leaf..... had never eaten stingray..... first time for spicy black noodles..... all quite different..... tasty..... a fun lunch and a new dinner to remember.....

..... a first-time experience in Malaysia..... we went night golfing under the lights..... using orange fluorescent balls..... staying away from the tall grass that snakes call home..... dripping wet at the 9th hole in the humid evening air..... certainly a contrast from our night skiing back home.....

.....as retired 'once backpackers', this tour was special..... access to airport lounges to ease the long international flights..... each day well-planned..... a blend of common sights and out-of-the-way places..... flexible free time to explore alone..... we give this tour company a thumbs up.....
